2 States: The Story of My Marriage - Book Review
2 States – The Story of My Marriage is a novel by India’s bestselling author, Chetan Bhagat.
Now before going forward I’d like to ask a question, what do you think was the reason behind the success of Mr. Chetan Bhagat? Well India connected with him, people relate to him. Coming from a humble family and then making it to the premier institutes of India, IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad, and then grabbing the best offers with leading multi Nationals, that is what you call the success story of the great Indian middle class. Right from his first novel he became the poster boy of Indian middle class.
Well I wrote all that to tell you the story of Chetan Bhagat and also of 2 States, which is largely based on bhagat’s own life.
The novel is about Krish and Ananya. Krish is a Punjabi boy who comes from Delhi while Ananya hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and belongs to a typical South Indian Iyer family. The two meet at IIM while pursuing their graduation and fall in love. The problem arises when the two decides to get married and their families come into picture, story has lot of drama and Indian appeal where generally inter cast marriages are still not considered good.
It’s a great read.
